By accessing or using the BizComplianceAPI service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including API consumers, account holders, and visitors to bizcomplianceapi.com.
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of material changes via email at least 14 days before they take effect.
BizComplianceAPI provides a programmatic interface (API) for querying business license and permit requirements across US jurisdictions. The Service aggregates publicly available regulatory data from federal, state, county, and municipal sources and returns it in a structured format.
The data returned by the Service is strictly informational. It is not legal advice, and should not be treated as a substitute for consultation with a licensed attorney, CPA, or compliance professional. BizComplianceAPI does not guarantee that the requirements returned represent a complete or exhaustive list of all licenses, permits, or registrations that may apply to your specific business.
To use the API, you must register for an account and obtain API credentials. You agree to:
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized that activity. We reserve the right to refuse registration or cancel accounts at our discretion.
Each pricing tier includes specific rate limits and monthly request quotas. These limits are enforced per API key. Exceeding your plan's rate limit will result in HTTP 429 responses until the rate window resets.
Requests beyond your monthly quota are billed as overage at your plan's per-request overage rate. You can monitor usage via the dashboard or the GET /v1/usage endpoint.
We reserve the right to throttle or suspend access if usage patterns indicate abuse, automated scraping, or activity that degrades Service performance for other users.
You agree not to use the Service to:
Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice or refund.
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge the payment method on file for your monthly subscription fee and any applicable overage charges.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days advance notice. Price changes do not affect the current billing cycle.
BizComplianceAPI aggregates business license and permit requirement data from publicly available government sources. While we make every effort to return accurate, current information, we do not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of any data returned by the API.
Specifically:
Users should independently verify all requirements with the relevant local, state, or federal authorities before making business decisions. The Service is an informational tool - not a compliance guarantee. Reliance on API data without independent verification is at your own risk.
The BizComplianceAPI service, documentation, website content, trademarks, logos, and underlying technology are the property of BizComplianceAPI and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any applications you build using the API. However, you may not claim ownership of or misrepresent the source of data returned by the API. When displaying compliance data obtained through BizComplianceAPI to end users, you must not imply that you are the original source of the data or that the data constitutes official government guidance.
You may reference BizComplianceAPI in your product documentation (e.g., "Compliance data powered by BizComplianceAPI") but you may not use our trademarks in a way that implies endorsement or partnership without written permission.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BIZCOMPLIANCEAPI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid to BizComplianceAPI in the 12 months preceding the claim. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
You may terminate your account at any time through your account dashboard or by contacting us. Termination takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if:
Upon termination, your API key is revoked and all access ceases. We may retain anonymized, aggregated usage data for analytics purposes.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify registered users via email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and terminate your account.
